The Scientific Justification for Bio
Identical Hormones:
A Literature
Review and Bibliography With
Comments From
Neal Rouzier, M.D.
This is my favorite chapter from the standpoint that it provides scientific justification for all that I preach concerning optimal replacement of bio identical bormones. The most important quotes from our most prestigious medical journals are listed followed by my personal thoughts and commentary. After reading this chapter, there should not be one physician that should not understand and embrace this therapy, both for themselves and their patients.NR
By the nature of the beast, doctors always demand proof and efficacy of any treatment or therapy. We as physicians are extremely critical of any new therapy and will critique any medicine or procedure until we are convinced of the safety and efficacy through well-designed medical studies. However, while a therapy may be well substantiated in the medical literature, the old dictum of if a doctor is not up on something, then he is down on it,’ certainly holds true.
For those of you who wish to providence from the medical literature to your friends and physicians, them these reference articles are for you. A physician once asked me if I could prove that these natural hormones were as the synthetic hormones. I asked him in return if he could prove the synthetic hormones were as good as the natural hormones. I can provide hundreds of articles demonstrating the harmful effects of the synthetic hormones, and I can provide hundreds of articles revealing the deterioration that our bodies experience with loss of our own hormones. The following are direct quotes from our medical literature that acknowledge the benefits of hormones, the harm and deterioration that occur when hormone levels fall, and the harmful effects that occur when utilizing non bio identical, chemically altered hormones.
As I stated previously, our own hormones are not harmful to our body. The harm is when our hormone levels fall that we deteriorate and suffer loss of strength, energy, libido, structure, muscle and bone. That’s when we see a decrease in quality of life and an increase in lassitude and depression. Worst of all is the increase in heart disease, strokes, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s and dementia. I find it amazing that over 40 years of medical studies that support the benefits of hormones remain ignored. The following are quotes from our prestigious medical journals that should not be ignored
